Genocide
After we finished our the last topic, we began with genocide. We learned about the UN convention of genocide and the 8 stages of genocide. After that, we watched three movies, two about the 1994 genocide in Rwanda, and one about the Serbian genocide between 1992 and 1995. We went deeper into the 1994 Rwandan genocide to understanding what led to the massacre. Within 100 days, over 800,000 Tutsis, members of the second largest tribe in Rwanda were killed by Hutus, the largest tribe. We learned about Rwanda's past and about Social Darwinism and Imperialism. We also read the book "Deogratias" in which a young Hutu man tries to deal with what he did during the genocide and kills people who remind him of the genocide. After that, we read parts of "We Wish to Inform You That Tomorrow We Will Be Killed With Our Families" by Philip Gourevitch and completed exercises about that piece of writing. You can find my exam below.
